Valley leverages Offsight’s Planning Dashboard to identify key stages in their project lifecycle including design, machine cutting, assembly and shipment. They assign labor resources to each phase or step in the process and plan out both the fabrication of steel components and the final assembly of their steel panels. Valley then generates a robust prefab project plan by leveraging Offsight’s algorithms for forecasting and estimating. The forecasted start and end dates of the design process, the fabrication of all components that feed into a finished product and the assembly of the finished panels themselves are all displayed in a dynamic Gantt chart and made available to production and project teams for reference once the project starts.

If issues are discovered for specific panels during prefabrication, these issues can be marked up in a checklist and linked to the specific product and stage, or process where the error occurred. With Offsight’s Alerts Dashboard, operations managers and quality personnel can live track all open issues. Once rework or repairs are performed to close these issues, their status can be marked as Completed in Offsight’s mobile app to remove them from the active alerts. In this manner, managers can ensure that all active issues are resolved before shipment.

As we began our search for manufacturing software, it became clear early on that Offsight’s capabilities were uniquely tailored to our needs as a prefab and modular manufacturer. As a financial controller and someone with a traditional financial background, I found this a unique differentiator when evaluating other solutions. It became even more apparent to our team that Offsight was the right solution when we involved the production and manufacturing operations team members in our evaluation. By leveraging Offsight software, which was designed for our industry and our project manufacturing process, we would not only make our lives easier during implementation but also as we scaled production.

Offsight’s mobile functionality was also unique as they tied material consumption and labor costs to specific products or projects leveraging QR codes and mobile scanning features. From the perspective of a controller, this ensured that material costs and labor costs data were highly accurate and could be used as estimate data for future projects. We found this to be a big gap that many traditional manufacturing systems failed to address because they were not built for the industry and made it very difficult for us to collect materials and labor data from the factory floor.

Another key differentiator was Offsight’s dedicated support. Offsight assigned a <a href="https://www.offsight.com/solutions-engineering" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">dedicated solutions engineering manager</a> to our account with established industry experience. Their implementation manager understood our process and with his collective knowledge of best practices was able to easily help build out our production, materials, and labor workflows. Many traditional manufacturing systems we were evaluating fell short in this regard as they had very limited implementation resources and the assigned personnel lacked expertise in the prefab and modular industry.

Once we went live with Offsight, our assigned solutions engineering manager continued to provide dedicated support and helped us build out our manufacturing workflows in Offsight as we scaled and launched new production lines. They also provided hands-on training to all our operators and team leads on the floor and paired with Offsight’s intuitive mobile app and user interface, we were able to quickly get started using the software.

The streamlined onboarding and training were critical as I could ensure that operators were recording their clock-ins and clock-outs correctly for accurate labor tracking and that materials were being consumed in real-time at each workstation for accurate work-in-process (WIP) reporting. This ease of use in data collection is a major differentiating factor when evaluating competing solutions that promised a lot but ultimately fell short when it comes to real-world useability on the shop floor.

The final key takeaway in our evaluation that helped us decide on Offsight as the best solution was their robust cloud-based integrations with accounting software. Offsight provides real-time interactions for materials, labor, and production data from the floor and feeds this data to our Netsuite instance via a real-time API.







Since most financial controllers and CFOs find it very difficult to ensure that they get highly accurate production data from the floor, Offsght’s continuous synchronization and real-time updates is a game-changer. During implementation, Offsight’s product team helped integrate our account based on our custom Netsuite setup. Furthermore, Offsight provides continuous support and maintenance to ensure that any updates in Netsuite do not break the integration.

A Controller’s Perspective: Why We Went with Offsight

Utilizing Offsight&#8217;s <a href="https://www.offsight.com/production" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Production &amp; Quality Tracking</a> feature set, Alinx successfully digitized their production work flow. This enabled them to visually map out key stations and process steps on the factory floor, encompassing Welding, Framing, Bridging, and Sheathing.







As panels advanced through production, managers could monitor their progress in real-time via Offsight. Furthermore, by linking panels to their respective multi-family projects and floors within buildings, managers could actively track the overall progress of hundreds of panels within the project. This facilitated maintaining project schedules and ensuring timely deliveries.

To receive real-time production data from the floor and accurately track panel progress, operators utilized <a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/offsight/id1522830069" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Offsight&#8217;s Mobile Apps.</a> Through Offsight, operators at each station could access shop drawings, details, checklists, and documentation tailored to their work activities, with specific User Group access and preferences configured. This streamlined approach reduces room for error and minimizes training requirements by providing an intuitive and simplified user interface.

By leveraging Offsight’s quality tracking capabilities in the mobile app, operators and quality inspectors at A-Linx was able to immediately identify and record assembly errors and non-conformance issues. These issues were marked during a thorough quality review at the Pre-Finishing stage of assembly or during verification at earlier process steps in production.

Once quality issues were identified, managers could monitor them through Offsight&#8217;s Alerts Dashboard. Resolved issues were automatically cleared from the Dashboard, while any rework or repair needed to address the problem could be documented and recorded in a digital quality checklist for future reference.







Additionally, utilizing&nbsp;<a href="https://www.offsight.com/reporting-auditing" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Offsight&#8217;s Reporting &amp; Auditing</a>&nbsp;capabilities, managers at A-Linx could furnish regular production progress reports and updates to executive management. Automated workflows were established to generate digital quality reports in .PDF format and production tracking data in .CSV through&nbsp;Offsight&#8217;s Reporting Dashboard. These comprehensive digital reports encompassed all quality verifications, sign-offs, and documented assembly or conformance issues across panels within a specific project.







They were also configured to detail the repair or rework necessary to address each issue.







Furthermore, A-Linx utilized <a href="https://www.offsight.com/advanced-analytics" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Offsight&#8217;s Advanced Analytics &amp; Insights</a> feature set to monitor product KPIs and metrics, such as cycle times for producing each panel and completing each process step during production.
