The company after seeing strong growth in the European market has decided to expand their operations in the United States. They’ve launched a new factory in Houston, TX and are now undertaking major commercial projects in the U.S. These include student housing, healthcare, multifamily and hospitality projects across the country.&nbsp;



As part of their expansion to the United States, Bathsystem&nbsp;decided to implement Offsight’s technology to manage their production, quality, and project delivery and to ensure their investment was a success.



&nbsp;In this case study we discuss how Bathsystem&nbsp;set up Offsight’s software at production launch, and built robust, scalable workflows to track their production of hundreds of bathpods in real time. We review how all quality control, sign-offs and verification can be recorded, monitored and centralized in Offsight for conformance and to track rework. We outline how Offsight’s collaborative and reporting capabilities enable Bathsystem&nbsp;to coordinate with other project stakeholders on major commercial projects, where the on-time manufacturing and delivery of their bathpods and prefabricated products can be crucial to meeting the overall project schedule.&nbsp;

Setting Up Offsight for Production Lanch



By leveraging Offsight’s Management Tool as part of the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.offsight.com/production" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Production &amp; Quality Tracking</a>&nbsp;feature set, Bathsystem&nbsp;began defining their production workflows for launch. Through the Management Tool each stage of the production process, including work areas or assembly zones,were defined and a specific workflow for each type of prefabricated bathroom was created. At each stage of the process tasks such as quality checklists or instructions to review shop drawings for assembly were identified and linked to the specific product or type of prefabricated bathroom and its specific stage in assembly.&nbsp;

While building these workflows in Offsight, Bathsystem&nbsp;was also able to account for variability in their planned production process. For example, their production process involved certain sub-assemblies which needed to be completed prior to the final product moving on to the next stage and in other cases multiple processes could happen in parallel and tracking was necessary across both of these processes. Within Offsight the team was able to define unique workflows for these use cases and set constraints whereby these sub-assembly workflows or parallel process workflows had to complete before the product could proceed to the next stage.&nbsp;



Once these workflows were defined and set up across all types of prefabricated bathrooms and designs, launching the app to the shop floor was seamless and real time data and production progress tracking could be controlled through&nbsp;<a href="https://apps.apple.com/us/app/offsight/id1522830069" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Offsight’s mobile app.&nbsp;</a>







Tracking Quality, Conformance and Rework from the Shop Floor

Once live, operators and managers were able to leverage Offsight directly from the shop floor. Unique QR codes for each bathpod were created and linked in Offsight. Operators or quality inspectors on the shop floor could scan QR codes at stations and by bathpod to immediately identify the specific product, its stage of assembly and access dynamic quality and conformance checklists in their Offsight tablet apps.

Once operators and quality inspectors access their dynamic quality checklists they can easily identify assembly issues and errors or complete sign-offs before products ship. Offsight’s Workflow Automation dashboard allows managers to set IF-THEN logic which makes completing these checklists easier and saves overall time for assembly and production activity. All issues that are identified can be tracked in Offsight’s Alerts Dashboard and resolved to track rework and repairs and ensure that all issues are addressed before Bathsystem prefabricated bathrooms ship.

As they began to expand their business in the United States, it was crucial for Bathsystem to also ensure that they grow and maintain their customers’ trust. A crucial part of that is being able to provide controlled visibility and real time communication with their customers and stakeholders during active projects. Tracking and Resolving Rework Before Shipment



Another major driver to realizing the cost savings of modular factory assembly is finding and resolving all non-conformances before shipment. Operators can access these quality alerts in Offsight where each failed task within a checklist is linked to a unique Alert ID and “OPEN” status. After rework is completed, the Alert ID status changes from “OPEN” to “CLOSED”. Managers can gain better visibility on trending quality issues by using Offsight’s Reports Dashboard where they can create daily, weekly, or monthly reporting views for open and closed alerts. Victaulic has been in business for over 100 years, why is the company getting into prefab/modular now?







N: &nbsp;Victaulic has always been a pioneer, starting with the introduction of grooved mechanical couplings over a century ago. Prefabrication is a natural extension of that innovation, aligning with global trends for efficiency and modernization. This isn’t new to us. We have been providing “Kit of Parts” and prefabricated assemblies for decades and now we really see the opportunity to push the industry forward.







The construction industry is evolving, with clients seeking faster project completion, higher quality, and reduced risks. Prefabrication addresses these needs. Advancements in technology, lean construction practices, and workforce challenges, like skilled labor shortages, make prefab solutions not just relevant but essential. V: What are some of the prefabricated products Victaulic will be offering? What industries or types of construction projects are driving the demand for these products?







N: &nbsp;Victaulic offers engineered prefabricated piping spool assemblies, skids, and other customer modular solutions. This includes everything from mechanical rooms to modular piping for utilities. Data center projects have tight project timelines and infrastructure projects such as airports, railways, and water treatment plants benefit from modular efficiency.



Other industrial projects like oil &amp; gas projects, power plants, and manufacturing facilities value cost predictability and safety where prefab can make a major difference. Furthermore, in the Middle East, where our team is based, projects like NEOM, Qiddiya and large-scale developments demand high-quality prefab solutions.

V: Adding to your last point, what does Victaulic see in the Middle East and in the construction market in Saudi Arabia that make it well suited for their prefabricated products?







N: Saudi Arabia’s focus on sustainability, efficiency, and innovation aligns perfectly with prefab strategies. The scale and complexity of projects in NEOM like The Line, where I was a consultant for 2 years developing the MEP Strategy require solutions that save time, reduce onsite labor, and meet demanding standards.







Prefab minimizes reliance on traditional skilled labor, which is often scarce or expensive in these markets and, by enabling assembly-line manufacturing, we can greatly reduce cost and reliance on traditional job site labor. Furthermore, collaborating with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and National Investment Fund (NIF) ensures integration into strategic initiatives in Saudi Arabia.







By establishing prefabrication manufacturing programs and tooling with contractors in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the Middle East we are positioning Victaulic as a key player in the region.

V: How can technology adoption ensure that Victaulic&#8217;s investment in their offsite factory is successful?







N: Technology enables precise planning and coordination, ensuring prefab products integrate seamlessly with onsite systems. V: What are the common use cases and applications for prefabricated cleanrooms?







B: &nbsp;So historically, the big pharma groups were the main players and main users of prefabricated clean rooms. That&#8217;s who we saw adopting earliest here in the US. Recently we&#8217;ve seen 503B pharmacies and a lot of CDMOs with scaling requirements, turning to prefabricated cleanrooms. For these new groups, we&#8217;ve seen significant scale requirements that have taken them from a small mom-and-pop shop up to a sizable business and that demand requires many cleanroom facilities to be delivered rather quickly to meet their growth.&nbsp;



Many of these facilities are also located near skilled labor markets for pharma, like Boston or San Francisco and when it comes to constructing these facilities through traditional methods, the cost to construct in those major cities is greatly increased. So in our case, moving work to a  prefabricated plant here in Flowery Branch, Georgia can be very economical for our pharma customers. The price point is more cost effective to do the construction here versus in those major markets.

V:&nbsp;Aside from price competitiveness, what other ways are modular and prefabricated cleanrooms superior to traditional builds? &nbsp;



B: So, prefabricated and modular cleanrooms are typically not going to utilize traditional building components like sheet rock and gypsum products. Most of your offsite and prefab clean rooms are going to use aluminum and universal polymer coatings and things of that nature versus traditional onsite is going to be an epoxy coated gypsum. The porous nature of that epoxy coated gypsum allows for mold growth. That is a major concern for the industry. It is something that we&#8217;ve seen a lot of regulators highlight and it is something that we are able to address with our prefabricated and modular products, that completely prevent mold growth. Furthermore, it&#8217;s also worth calling out when it comes to quality assurance, prefab and modular cleanrooms are far more reliable. There&#8217;s no rain-out days in the factory, so there&#8217;s a tremendous amount of clarity when it comes to having your entire project prepped, ready to go and kicking off assembly.

V: Do you feel there&#8217;s value in adopting technology, not only for visibility to the prefabricator, but potentially other project stakeholders who are going to make a bet on sourcing offsite products? What role can technology play in bridging the gap?



 B: In traditional construction, you can see framing going up and you see people are on site. You see those traditional indicators that give you the warm and fuzzy that the job&#8217;s moving. The fact is, it&#8217;s the old adage of you can sharpen your knife, and then you go make one cut versus hacking away at it. With off-site prefab, we can delay much longer as we prepare and source everything in the factory until it&#8217;s actually time to go through that install and begin utilizing labor for assembly. But the main issue for owners and clients is how does the client trust and know that the overall &nbsp;job&#8217;s still on track? This is where technology can step in and provide visibility into the offsite factory. You can utilize indicators and digitally track progress milestones, you can add images and visuals so that customers can see everything in real time and technology can help you communicate that effectively to clients. By utilizing technology that tracks progress in real time, you can collaborate on the install side as well and provide billing updates to owners which is important for financing offsite projects. You could verify for example that panel one was manufactured and that can be a bill out point or you can group it to the nearest hundred panels or whatever the milestone may be. By tracking that digitally and providing regular updates you can provide owners with confidence that milestones are being hit and streamline your billing process.&nbsp; Furthermore, when you actually go on-site for installation, continuing to utilize technology to track that panels are being installed effectively is also useful. Confirming I&#8217;ve got 20% of the job done and installed panels 1 through 20 today, allows you to continue tracking progress and thereby manage the end to end project lifecycle effectively. &nbsp; Overall technology makes life easier for our team and helps customer service. It’s always better to proactively provide visibility to customers to build confidence as opposed to waiting for them to ask.
