V: What are the common use cases and applications for prefabricated cleanrooms?







B: &nbsp;So historically, the big pharma groups were the main players and main users of prefabricated clean rooms. That&#8217;s who we saw adopting earliest here in the US. Recently we&#8217;ve seen 503B pharmacies and a lot of CDMOs with scaling requirements, turning to prefabricated cleanrooms. For these new groups, we&#8217;ve seen significant scale requirements that have taken them from a small mom-and-pop shop up to a sizable business and that demand requires many cleanroom facilities to be delivered rather quickly to meet their growth.&nbsp;



Many of these facilities are also located near skilled labor markets for pharma, like Boston or San Francisco and when it comes to constructing these facilities through traditional methods, the cost to construct in those major cities is greatly increased. So in our case, moving work to a  prefabricated plant here in Flowery Branch, Georgia can be very economical for our pharma customers. The price point is more cost effective to do the construction here versus in those major markets.

V:&nbsp;Aside from price competitiveness, what other ways are modular and prefabricated cleanrooms superior to traditional builds? &nbsp;



B: So, prefabricated and modular cleanrooms are typically not going to utilize traditional building components like sheet rock and gypsum products. Most of your offsite and prefab clean rooms are going to use aluminum and universal polymer coatings and things of that nature versus traditional onsite is going to be an epoxy coated gypsum. The porous nature of that epoxy coated gypsum allows for mold growth. That is a major concern for the industry. It is something that we&#8217;ve seen a lot of regulators highlight and it is something that we are able to address with our prefabricated and modular products, that completely prevent mold growth. Furthermore, it&#8217;s also worth calling out when it comes to quality assurance, prefab and modular cleanrooms are far more reliable. There&#8217;s no rain-out days in the factory, so there&#8217;s a tremendous amount of clarity when it comes to having your entire project prepped, ready to go and kicking off assembly.

V: Do you feel there&#8217;s value in adopting technology, not only for visibility to the prefabricator, but potentially other project stakeholders who are going to make a bet on sourcing offsite products? What role can technology play in bridging the gap?



 B: In traditional construction, you can see framing going up and you see people are on site. You see those traditional indicators that give you the warm and fuzzy that the job&#8217;s moving. The fact is, it&#8217;s the old adage of you can sharpen your knife, and then you go make one cut versus hacking away at it. With off-site prefab, we can delay much longer as we prepare and source everything in the factory until it&#8217;s actually time to go through that install and begin utilizing labor for assembly. But the main issue for owners and clients is how does the client trust and know that the overall &nbsp;job&#8217;s still on track? This is where technology can step in and provide visibility into the offsite factory. You can utilize indicators and digitally track progress milestones, you can add images and visuals so that customers can see everything in real time and technology can help you communicate that effectively to clients. By utilizing technology that tracks progress in real time, you can collaborate on the install side as well and provide billing updates to owners which is important for financing offsite projects. You could verify for example that panel one was manufactured and that can be a bill out point or you can group it to the nearest hundred panels or whatever the milestone may be. By tracking that digitally and providing regular updates you can provide owners with confidence that milestones are being hit and streamline your billing process.&nbsp; Furthermore, when you actually go on-site for installation, continuing to utilize technology to track that panels are being installed effectively is also useful. Confirming I&#8217;ve got 20% of the job done and installed panels 1 through 20 today, allows you to continue tracking progress and thereby manage the end to end project lifecycle effectively. &nbsp; Overall technology makes life easier for our team and helps customer service. It’s always better to proactively provide visibility to customers to build confidence as opposed to waiting for them to ask.
